Think of all the wasted food. Didn't you know there are starving people in Africa? (I was never sure why that was a valid argument for forcing kids to stuff themselves.)
I never eat or swig the last of anything, but I can truly claim altruism in only this instance. I don't eat the last because I think someone else will want it, and I don't want them not to have it.

I won't eat the last corner of bread. If I have two pieces of toast, I won't eat the last corner of the one I eat last.
